plperlng-8.0 series plperl-20040909-8.0.tar.bz2

This release is for the 8.0 series. The point of the 8.0 series is to keep in line with the requirements of the 8.0 release.

This means that although we will be adding features we are going to try and keep in line with 8.0 specs such as allowing the use of the 5.00503 perl. The 7.4 series will now allow this.

plperlng-7.4 series plperl-20040908.tar.gz

This is the latest development version of the plPerlNg for the 7.4.5 series. This version is more advanced than the version that is shipping with 8.0.
As our test platform is Linux it would be great if we could get some testing on other platforms.

plperlng-8.0 series alpha-dropin-cvstip-03

Analysis of changes:

good:
. things which were hashes and should have been arrays now are (trigger args and rows returned from spi queries).
. returning an empty set of rows now works

ungood:
. no change in 'setof record' behaviour - it's not supported
. no change in things that are strings and would ideally be arrays or hashes.

I did a pgindent run over plperl.c so we are in line with standard PostgreSQL indentation, and adopted the same style in the README files and sample script.

This is an export of what is currently in plperlng's CVS, namely a dropin replacement for the core CVS tip version of plperl, adapted from CommandPrompt's 7.4.2 patch by David Fetter.
This is the alpha code from CommandPrompt, untested.

It is a patch against 7.4.2 sources (needs to be brought up to date against CVS tip).

Features:
. hash for shared data between plperl functions
. set returning functions
. trigger functions
. returning composite types
. SPI queries available withing plperl functions
