Npgsql receives donation of an MSDN subscription!!

Hi all!

It all started when Josh Cooley told me about this post: http://devlicio.us/blogs/tuna_toksoz/archive/2010/07/27/codebetter-devlicio-us-msdn-ultimate-giveaways.aspx

I sent a mail talking about Npgsql and how a VS.Net would help us to add design time support and today I received a very nice mail saying that Npgsql was choosen to receive an MSDN subscription!

Entity Framework Sample posted

I just added an Entity Framework sample project created by Frank Xia based on Microsoft sample code: http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/EFQuerySamples/

Frank also ported the NorthwindEF database to postgresql.

Have a look and let us know what you think.

Npgsql2 RC1 Released!

It's a great pleasure to say Npgsql Development Team made a new release of Npgsql2. We are closer to the final release!

On the highlights, thanks to Josh Cooley, we have support for newer version of EntityFramework 3.5sp1beta.

Another highlight is that we fixed the cast problem some people had when using Npgsql2 beta4. Now, Npgsql will only use casts if the user explicitly specify a DbType or NpgsqlDbType value.

Also, thanks Andreas Schönebeck, who provided us with testcases and feedback, we have a much better threadabortexception handling. Those exceptions were making Npgsql be instable and sometimes unusable.

Please, if you had any problem, give RC1 a try and help us to improve Npgsql for final release.

Npgsql2.0 Beta3 Released

Highlights:

This is our first release with Entity Framework support.

Improved scalability with on demand datareader which makes Npgsql delivers data from server as client requests it instead of caching all data first. Thanks Jon Hanna.

Npgsql 2 Beta2 released

The Npgsql development team has worked together with Daniel Nauck to release Npgsql 2 beta2 which includes NauckIT.PostgreSQLProvider.

NauckIT.PostgreSQLProvider is a PostgreSQL implementation of the ASP.NET 2.0 Membership, Role, Profileprovider and Session-State Store Provider.
