Project:passgen

passgen is a pseudo-random password generator for PostgreSQL.It returns a text type and it can be useful to create a new user and assign to him a new random password.

Ok, it works,
but I think that is less fast than passgen, because you call many more postgresql functions to calculate it.

I usually use this to create a password consisting of base64 characters (a-zA-Z+/):

select passgen from (select substring(encode(decode(md5(random()::text),'hex'),'base64') from 1 for 8) as passgen ) t

No need for a special library or function
