Well, the taxi and the car might end up costing you similar amounts. 
The real problem around Ryerson is parking the car.  I put details of

I can tell you that I live just a few blocks away from Ryerson, and I
find having a car so inconvenient down there that I got rid of mine
(but I don't have a driveway).
