Summary:
`make check' failure

Detailed description
`make check' expects failure messages from `awk' of a very specific version. A slightly different `awk' output does not match `expected/*out':

*** /usr/src/pg_bulkload-3.1.1/bin/expected/load_check.out 2012-05-29 17:22:38.000000000 +0000
--- /usr/src/pg_bulkload-3.1.1/bin/results/load_check.out 2012-05-29 21:22:24.000000000 +0000

ERROR: query failed: ERROR: invalid input syntax for type boolean: "O"
DETAIL: query was: SELECT * FROM pg_bulkload($1)

! awk: data/adjust.awk:1: fatal: cannot open file `results/check2.log' for reading (No such file or directory)
SET enable_seqscan = on;
SET enable_indexscan = off;
SET enable_bitmapscan = off;
--- 79,85 ----
ERROR: query failed: ERROR: invalid input syntax for type boolean: "O"
DETAIL: query was: SELECT * FROM pg_bulkload($1)
\! awk -f data/adjust.awk results/check2.log
! awk: cannot open results/check2.log (No such file or directory)
SET enable_seqscan = on;
SET enable_indexscan = off;
SET enable_bitmapscan = off;

The error message from `pg_bulkload' had already been tested. It appears to be safe to have a silent reaction if no file does exist in load_check.sql:

\! [ -r results/check2.log ] && awk -f data/adjust.awk results/check2.log

and a similar case for load_encoding.sql:

\! [ -r results/encoding2.log ] && awk -f data/adjust.awk results/encoding2.log

A patch file is attached.
